John Charles Bourbon
John Bourbon has joined the Diligent Compliance team as the company chairman, John is a well respected senior figure within global financial regulation.
Background
John runs his own compliance and regulatory consultancy business based in the Isle of Man. He is licensed by the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission under section 7 of the Financial Services Act 2008 to act as a Corporate Service Provider (Class 4 sub-class (6)) and a Trust Service Provider (Class 5 sub-classes (2) and (5)) He is also the Chairman of the (UK) Compliance Institute.
John acts as a director for a total of 33 companies, the majority of which are collective investment funds. John is also chairman of the AIM listed Value Catalyst Fund and a director of Dhir India Investments PLC which is also an AIM listed company.
Amongst his Gibraltar non executive based interests, John is the chairman of Gibraltar Asset Management limited, a director of King and Company Private Bankers limited and he also sits on the board of two Gibraltar administered collective investment funds.
From 2000 until 2002, John held the position of Managing Director of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority . He was in 2001, one of the co-authors of the Basel Customer Due Diligence policy which was subsequently adopted by all of the worlds banking regulators. Prior to his arrival in the Cayman Islands, John was Head of Supervision at the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission. Before this he worked for nearly 24 years within the financial services arm of the Barclays Bank Group.
John was one of the founders of KYCOS an organisation which developed a unique KYC and due diligence service provided across International Financial Centres from the Isle of Man, Jersey and Dublin to the Cayman Islands. He worked on this project for approximately three years, from 2002 to 2005.
John holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Financial Services Regulation and is a Fellow of both the Compliance Institute (F Col) the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB) and the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (FCSI).
